Hotel Bel Oranger Gare de Lyon

My brother and I where there for a very short visit. We were travelling by train to London from Spain. Unfortunately our train from Barcelona to Paris was late and we missed the the connection to Paris. We arrived in Paris very late and had only a 6 hour stay instead of the 14 hour stay that we had hoped to have. The room was fine for a short stay of 1 or 2 nights. It was clean and the beds, although not very wide, where comfortable. The owner was able to accommodate our late arrival, which we were very grateful for and he also helped us with directions to the metro to the Gare du Nord.

Very clean rooms, and a lovely bathroom and shower. A nice and cosy small Paris hotel. No tea and coffee within the room, but an excellent range of tea and coffee available for guests to make in the lobby area. Breakfast is available at the hotel, but on our one night stay we opted to visit the excellent bakery a few doors down. Lots of restaurant choices in close proximity, and easily accessible from Gare Du Lyon train station. Staff very helpful, and happy to arrange a taxi for us back to the airport.

The hotel is well-located and the room, while small, had what we needed, One caveat for travelers: The first room we were given had a bathtub that was too high off the ground for me to climb into (I'm 5'2"). We asked for another room and got it. This room had a walk-in shower so was fine. We paid for the hotel breakfast one morning and thought it was decent but not great. After that, we bought croissants, etc from the boulangerie at the end of the block, which was terrific.

We've stayed at this hotel before as it's close to Gare de Lyon and spotlessly clean and simple. Our room this time was on the second floor and as usual was impeccably clean and comfortable with an excellent shower. Reception people were friendly and it's quiet at night. Air conditioning is really good too, which was nice on a hot summer evening.

Quiet street near 2 metro stations. Staff pleasant and helpful. Hot and cold drinks available in reception area. The room was compact but fresh,y decorated with a very new looking shower room. Beds made and towels changed every day. A little supermarket just round the corner and eating places nearby.
